Finding faults!

Randomthoughts magnifying glass
Why is it that it is easy to find faults with others?

I admit that even myself I keep on finding weaknesses with my friends, with my job associates, or even with my own family members. And I'm adamant to accept that I've inadequacies too. I would rather justify my incapacity to do things when I fail. But I know for that kind of attitude of finding others' faults our Lord God is not well pleased for this.

Why this is so?

I remember in one of our management meetings with my fellow educators a resource person raised a piece of a clean white sheet of paper with a small black dot at the center for everyone to see. Then he asked a question if what we had seen. Without hesitation, we unanimously answered that there was a black dot at the center of the said paper he lifted up. He chuckled and then raised his voice saying: "Why that is so?"

Another illustration is cited from the Bible, Matthew 7:3: "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" Again why is it so?

Recently I viewed Juana Change's Porsche video belittling President Aquino's private life. Juana Change (real name Mae Paner) is a supporter of President Aquino. She helped in the Aquino campaign. Then, with this Porsche video, she criticizes PNoy. Why and why is that so?

What else what we can do is to contemplate on this:

"Judge not, that ye be not judged.

"For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

"Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."
(Matthew 7:1-5).

Who crucified Jesus? Think about it!

  1. Some people gain a subtle enjoyment from highlighting the faults of others. It is easy to pick fault with other people. A funny example is how frequently people will say things like, “A is such a terrible gossip, he’s always negative and criticizing other people.” We say things like this ironically, we are doing exactly what we are criticizing them for! Nice article Sir Gil!

  2. If it's my fault I will accept it. If not there is no way I'm going to accept it. Ayaw kung maging bayaning buhay. If I don't know who commit the mistakes then it's their conscience to tell the truth. I have no right to point someone unless I know the truth.

  3. Some people easily criticize others but are blind when it comes to criticizing themselves.

  4. this is a sad fact :( Sometimes we wonder, why can't people be happy for others. This is a great post to ponder on ..

  5. I'm guilty of it. Sometimes, no matter how we try to be the best person that we should be, we just forget to do the right thing. It's a good thing that today, I'm reminded to be subtle and gentle towards others.

  6. This post would really make you think. Totoo, karamihan sa'tin e mahilig pumuna sa kakulangan ng iba at nakakalimutan ang sarili nating pagkukulang. Salamat po dito. Salamat sa pagpapaalala. :)

  7. Jesus was crucified because of us and yet we still tend to do things against others which is not pleasing before the Savior's eyes.

I think everyone needs Divine guidance that the things we will do will be for His Glory and not ours.

  8. Sad thing but this is the truth .. I mean people easily find faults with other people but they are blind with their own fault.

  9. A very good read sir Gil. I'd say before finding fault from others, we must take a look at ourselves first ^_^

  10. One this is for sure. . no matter how many negative attacks one person receives from others .. NOBODY CAN PUT A GOOD MAN DOWN! :)

  11. This is the circle of blame. I think it's human nature, sometimes we have to find an outlet and not blame ourselves for everything that happens. It can be healthy but when done too much, it can be destructive..

  12. i'm guilty of the blame game too but on my relationships (personal level) but i try to minimize it, keep it first to myself (if I can)...i don't blame much the gov't why? because i don't know exactly what is happening and one person (like PNoy) cannot handle everything...

  13. This is so true. So easy for us to look on the mistakes of others than our own faults. We keep on pointing fingers at ito ang kadalasang nagiging sanhi ng away. A very good post. Made me think and realize one thing... I know no one of us wants to be blamed, so let us not put our blames on others too. :) Thanks sir!

  14. people find other's mistakes easily because they can't allow somebody to be more than them or above than them. that's why the word insecure develops. although it's not applicable to everybody or the words / description might just be harsh, admit it, it does makes sense.

  15. Parang bullet na tagos sa puso ang post mo Sir. Sad but harsh truth. I did a little assessment of myself and sadly I am also guilty of finding fault to others. :(

Keep on blogging and inspiring others.

  16. It may not be an ethical move..
But as humans, we look at things exactly at face value..
Our mind is hay wired in a way that we perceive things as they are,
    seen by our naked eyes.

  17. human nature... but best to emulate - Jesus on not finding faults but to understand and emphatize :)

  18. I am guilty too sometimes. Instead of analyzing ourselves, we end up criticizing other people, but actually we are just the as them or even worst!

  19. I feel quite guilty about this too, but really, it's hard to not be judgmental. Somehow, it's human nature already. I guess the best thing to do for starters is to at least be quiet and just shut up when we think bad of other people.

  20. Most of the time we tend to criticize others because we feel insecure with ourselves. Like we Filipinos sometimes tend to do (Crab mentality), we try to find faults in other people to cover our own faults!

  21. Simple lang yan, Sir Gil, yung mga pintasero, sila yung maraming insecurities sa sarili nila. They find fault sa iba coz they have no self-esteem! MAYAYABANG MGA WALA NAMAN!

  22. knowing the truth is really hurts.. that's why we should learn how to handle properly the criticisms, and learn from it
