VM Baga Supports Cubay Elem. School Feeding Program

Support for CES feeding program
David Baga, vice mayor of La Carlota City has included Cubay Elem. School in his priority list of elementary schools in the division of La Carlota City as one the beneficiaries of his feeding program.

VM Baga personally delivers an initial sack of first class rice and a piece of dressed chicken to the school. Mr. Gilbor Camporazo, the school principal and Ashley Rose Capispisan, president of school pupil government receive the feeding support in a simple ceremony done at the office of the school principal.

Baga said that Cubay Elem. School is one of the 15 elementary schools in the division of La Carlota City for his feeding program. The program will be continued till the next school year. The rice and other feeding supplement are just the initial supplies distributed. When the supplies run out, they will be replenished. The program will be monitored to make it sustainable, the vice mayor said.

Camporazo expressed his gratefulness for such fatherly concerned of VM Baga to the pupils of CES, more particularly those who have severe and wasted nutritional status. He's confident that healthy and nutritious fed pupils will academically excel in their studies. And they will not readily get sick.

Though Cubay elem. School has a limited number of malnourished pupils, but most of them are poor. They couldn't even have their regular breakfast in going to school. The meager income of their parents are not sufficient to provide them what they need. The school has looked into that. A feeding program funded by GAA was realized, but it didn't last. It lacked sustainability for lack of continuous funding. Now, VM Baga has come to the rescue to include CES in his feeding program. Baga personally visited the school, talked with the school principal, and presented the program. The school openly welcomes the program.

The initiative of VM Baga is highly recognized by the school. The pupils and their parents have also manifested their gratefulness to the vice mayor's gestures of helping the pupils in their nutritional needs in a casual meeting of the school principal to them.

  6. I always doubt politicians, but that's just my 2 cents, i know a lot who are serving for the "gain" not really for the service to the people. Every now and then we came across this people who are really good and doing a good service. Hopefully we can have more like VM Baga in our corrupt government.

  7. It feels good that there are still government officials who do these kinds of things.

  16. More government officials should earn the people's confidence and respect by doing even small things such as this, more if they do things to the extent of even getting from their own pockets. God bless.

  17. It is really nice kapag ang mga politicians ay nagbibiyag ng time and attention sa mga schools na kailangan talaga ng tulong kasi eto ang isa sa mga way para mga estudyante ay magsikap sa kanilang pag aaral. For me volunteering to help other people is cool.

  20. Dear Gil Comporazo,

    Good Morning!

First of all, thank you for visiting my blog and the comment as well (http://www.mazydoll.com/2011/12/from-necklace-to-cordless-phone.html).

Wish more and more people will do good things like what he is doing. We better demand or ask those people who are feeding theirselves with the wealth they didnt really earn.

    Yours,

    Vicky David

  22. When I was in grade school, we used to have this feeding program in school too. We used to receive packs of oatmeal, green peas, and non-fat milk. hehe.. those were the days. I'm just happy that there are still a lot of people who are willing to help these poor children who doesn't have enough food to eat.

  23. It's a public official's duty to serve his constituents. When he does it without prodding, it's okay. When he does it beyond his call of duty, he should be praised.

  24. We did this in my elementary school. They give us green peas, "bulgor", yellow corn and rice. Hahahahaha. Tapos, we cook it sa house then dadalhin sa school to share sa mga classmates. Inaassign ng teacher kung sino magluluto. What's good is that your school is supported by the government. :)

  25. this is a very good initiative..
When I was in grade school, I transferred from private to a public school.
That's when I heard of feeding programs in school,
but then its wasn't for free..
Just a very cheap and healthy options for pupils to eat at school.

  35. This is an honorable thing done by the vice mayor. May his program to support the needy goes on forever to help a lot of students who needed nutritional assistance. They can start to promote "malunggay also" to the community. Malunngay is very rich in nutrition and it can aid against malnutrition. This is what helps most of the poor African society to fight malnutrition.
