AMA Offering a 'Bogus' Course?

AMA Computer Learning Center (ACLC) in Bacolod has offered unrecognized course in Computer-Based Accountancy (CBA) as alleged by a group of college students who graduated with the said Degree sometime in May 2010, said the local news.

The allegation stemmed from the complaints of 9 graduates whose transcript of records (TOR) wasn't issued upon their request for more than a year. Because of non-issuance of their TORs, they further alleged that their course was not accredited with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Steffy Ann Lacandazo-Braza, the spokesperson of the group, said they are complaining against ACLC Directress Ma. Clara Librando who could not be found or contacted anymore. To their dismay, ACLC had closed down in December 2010 and Librando had not issued any notice on the school’s closure and what they will do to answer their liabilities to their graduates.

The graduates said they had paid a huge sum of money for their tuition, miscellaneous and other fees per semester and they are very dismayed about what happened to them.

In their statement, the complainants said they have started requesting for their TOR since June 2010 but the school registrar told them it was still on process, for the school has not secured their Special Orders from TESDA.

They sought the assistance of the media to address their problem to the person concerned for they had sensed that they're waiting in vain.

Later, ACLC Directress Librando was contacted. But she said, "I don’t have any access with the school anymore. The school has been turned over to the head office in Manila (AMA Computer University) and I don’t have any record of the students anymore."

TESDA Provincial Director Rolando Juanillo came to the rescue and said he will meet with Librando next week and he will exhaust all means to release the TOR and other requirements of the ACLC graduates.
