Home is the Most Secured Place

"Homes are the most secured places for our family," said President Avelino N. Santillan, First Counselor of Bacolod Philippines Mission.

President Santillan is one of the speakers in the Sunday semi-annual conference of La Carlota District of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presided by Elder Ramon Nobleza of the Seventy.

He illustrated his talk by citing from the children story book, the "Camel's Nose". It is about the camel and his master, the merchant who were stranded in the middle of the desert at night. The master put up his tent and stayed inside. While the camel was outside. While the night was getting high, it was very cool outside. The camel beg and wanted its nose to get inside the tent and his master allowed it. Until it bid his master to let its whole body placed inside the tent and finally kicked his master out from the tent.

In analogy, Santillan referred to the camel as the "spiritual camel." He said, "This 'spiritual camel', if we allow it to get into our home, will thwart our plans for our family." And that's we should not allow to happen. We should prepare our homes. Let's consider Matthew 7 of the Bible, which reminds us the pattern which our home should be built. When our home is built upon the rock, it could not be destroyed or either influenced by adversary. But when it is built upon the sand, our home is easily destroyed.

"heavenly aspirations"
In order that the "spiritual camel" could not influence our home, it should be enriched with "heavenly aspirations" like honest living, tap everyone's "divine potentials" in doing missionary work, and inculcate the value of "divine inheritance" for "families are forever." If we do otherwise, the  "spiritual camel" will push us out.

He reiterated that home is the place secured in society. It is a fortress of righteousness. Our membership in the Church is a strong guarantee that we will not be kicked out by the "spiritual camel". We should always be ready for the "onslaught of evil forces comes from every direction."

Thus, we should heed the counsel from the scripture, particularly Doctrine and Covenants Section 88:119, that we should "organize" ourselves... and "establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God."

Home is a sanctuary for the fiercest storm to come. Therefore, when someone kicks you out from the "tent", stand for righteousness, he stressed.
