|Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum |
of the Twelve Apostle
These things I did were strengthened by the message of Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on sacrifice in the Saturday morning session of the 182nd Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Temple Square, Salt Lake City, Utah. It was rebroadcast in our respective meetinghouses here in the Philippines.
In this conference, we receive instructions, spiritual uplifting testimonies of general authorities, and latest words from our living Prophet, Seer and Revelator, President Thomas S. Monson.
"Our lives of service and sacrifice are the most appropriate expressions of our commitment to serve the Master and our fellowmen," said Dallin H. Oaks.
He claimed that "no group whose members make more sacrifices than Latter-day Saints."
Everyone may notice that the unselfish service and sacrifice of LDS members are noticeable today, he said. He further declared that LDS lives of service and sacrifice are the most appropriate expressions of their commitment to serve the Master and their fellowmen.
Other service and sacrifice which the LDS are doing are the following:
1. Missionary work which always involves sacrifice, including the years they give to the work of the Lord and also the sacrifices made in providing funds for their support.
2. Service in the temples, "is unique to Latter-day Saints"
3. Family involvement is the most familiar and most important examples of unselfish service and sacrifice.
"Just as the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ is at the center of the plan of salvation, we followers of Christ must make our own sacrifices to prepare for the destiny that plan provides for us," he concluded.
I've no regret that I joined this Church sometime in 1980. I've many trials, afflictions, and challenges in my life, and I overcame all of them because of my unwavering faith with the Lord Jesus Christ. All my prayers have been answered.
