Ten o'clock in the morning of Thursday, I received the package coming from the Manila forwarder. I understood that these were the items I ordered from the online store last Sunday, April 15.
Toto Jun called up Bryan, Shanley Jane and Adgel and gathered them in a one place. He gave the package to Bryan, 9 who took the lead in opening the package, while Shanley Jane and Adgel, both are 8 years old, looked on. Stephanie Gyn, 5 years old joined also for she's excited just her sister Shanley and cousins.
As the package was opened, everybody shouted in unison, "Yehey! We've our own Book!" Everyone looked at me and said, "Salamat, Tatay." (Thank you, grandfather)
Bryan right away took hold of his copy and began reading. Early this morning he told me that he had already finished reading the first 3 chapter of the Book.
Also Shanley Jane, a.k.a. Bulaklak was in the first 3 chapter of the Book. She even delighted in copying some of the lines in the beginning of the 3rd chapter in a piece of paper.
Adgel, a.k.a. Aja selected a chapter for her reading. She told me that her teacher gave them the freedom to select any chapter from the Book to be read.
The books which my 3 grandchildren received were the Book of Mormon in a softbound cover. I ordered them from the online store of the Church.
After our dinner last night, Bryan told me that he felt something while reading the Book of Mormon.
"I have the feeling that the more I read the Book of Mormon, the more of my sins will be forgiven," told Bryan.
"That's the purpose why you should read the Book of Mormon. For the more you read it, the more you know about the words of God; and the more you understand them, the more you'll become faithful in following His commandments, then your sins will be forgiven," I explained and assured him that it is possible.
Bulaklak has this to say: "Excited to know the content of the Book of Mormon. Before I read it, I pray so that I may know what I'm reading especially about Jesus Christ and His Church."
The Book of Mormon
|Book of Mormon|
"The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible. It is a record of God’s dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains the fulness of the everlasting gospel.
"The book was written by many ancient prophets by the spirit of prophecy and revelation. Their words, written on gold plates, were quoted and abridged by a prophet-historian named Mormon. The record gives an account of two great civilizations. One came from Jerusalem in 600 B.C., and afterward separated into two nations, known as the Nephites and the Lamanites. The other came much earlier when the Lord confounded the tongues at the Tower of Babel. This group is known as the Jaredites. After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are among the ancestors of the American Indians.
"The crowning event recorded in the Book of Mormon is the personal ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ among the Nephites soon after his resurrection. It puts forth the doctrines of the gospel, outlines the plan of salvation, and tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come." (Introduction)
Most Correct Book
Concerning this record the Prophet Joseph Smith said: “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”
You may not believe it for some reasons. We know there faults on this. "if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ."
Sacred Record of People
The Book of Mormon is a sacred record of peoples in ancient America, and was engraved upon sheets of metal, in four kinds of metal plates:
- The Plates of Nephi, which were of two kinds: the Small Plates and the Large Plates.
- The Plates of Mormon, which consist of an abridgment by Mormon from the Large Plates of Nephi, with many commentaries.
- The Plates of Ether, which present a history of the Jaredites, and
- The Plates of Brass brought by the people of Lehi from Jerusalem in 600 B.C.
