Oplan Exodus: SAF Woes & Throes

It is reality that it is easy to find faults of others. Isn't it? What had happened to the fateful day of January 25 was unbearable.

Most of the Filipino condemned that incident of gruesome massacre of 44 members of Special Action Forces (SAF) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), They'd a gun battle with MILF and BIFF just to save the country from terrorism if they'd arrested the international terrorists who had taken a refuge at Mamasapano, Maguindanao. But they fought all alone for themselves and lost their lives.

As what Senator Mirriam Santiago described it during the Senate hearing called for the investigation of the said Mamasapano clash among the MILF and Bansangmoro fighters with the PNP-SAF as a massacre and not as an encounter.

You know what the Filipino did after that incident which shocked the entire country? Lifting an accusing finger to Police Director General Alan Purisima, to Special Action Force (SAF) Police Director Getulio Napeñas, and worse to the President Noynoy Aquino?

Whatever it is? That's the normal everyone could do. Let's examine first ourselves and the rest, it's up to you.

Oplan Exodus

Anyway, let's take a look to the findings on Senate investigation on Mamasapano killing of 44 SAF on January 25.

The mission of that killed SAF is to arrest the Malaysian terrorist Marwan and a Filipino-Muslim bomb maker Usman. And that mission is called "Oplan Exodus".

In the first place, according to Senator Santiago, "Oplan Exodus" was already a failure especially on the planning stage in the sense that the operation wasn't properly analyzed. It's based on assumptions of impossibility. It lacked intelligent insight. There's no chance for escape. The AFP and AHJAG hadn't coordinated with this delicate and dangerous operation patriotically executed by these elite cops.

Concept of Operations (CONOPS)

It's clear that there were many contributing factors that led to failure on the execution of CONOPS. The area where the SAFS be dropped off was uncertain. The SAFS were at a loss as to where to stay. Communications were unreliable which made the operating troops left on their own. Command and control wasn't intact.

Those police troops were unaided as to armed support from the Infantry Division for there's a tendency that the on-going peace process on that area may be violated. Moreover, military protocols should be observed on the use of artillery.

To sum it up, everything is bleak and futile which these troopers may be reinforced, In short, they came there at Mamasapano to meet their destiny for the country as a patriots and heroes to defend the country from terrorism.

It is unbearable to imagine the gruesome killings of 44 able-bodied young police troopers. The woes of their family are to excruciating. Their throes in an inane mind of everyone are irreparable. We're not certain it will be healed right away after the accountable person or persons be punished.

  1. I think we really need to move past this issue. The heroes should not be forgotten but this has already been to divisive. I hope apologies come sooner than later.

  2. I agree with Franc. This is now being used by other to further their polical plans..others would like to have the granstanding at walang magamit na isyu kundi to...

  3. Though it's a sad news still you must feel proud for them I think.

  4. My heart goes out to the 44 Saf members who were killed. I hope they get justice and not be used by politicians for other purposes.
