1. Decide Your Academic Trajectory

Why are you going back to class? What do you hope to accomplish? Put together a complete schedule for your education. For example, if you're hoping to obtain an associate's degree, plot out your two-year plan through every semester. The school should have advisors on staff who can help you if you aren't sure what to do.

2. Network, Network, Network

Studies have shown that more jobs are found through networking than anything else. Even if you're taking online courses, try to get in touch with other people involved in the program. Email professors; create study groups; network with students who have taken the course before. You never know when an acquaintance might pay off down the line.

3. Watch Your Finances

It's easy to get sucked into debt when you're desperate to change your career. You might also pay more than you should because you think you aren't entitled to scholarships or financial aid. This isn't true! Talk to the school's financial office to figure out your options as a non-traditional student.

These are just three tips ot continuing education. It's never too late to change or advance your career with a better degree, so go ahead and hit the books! Your future awaits.
