Expanding Students' Spiritual Knowledge

The Seminary and Institute of Religion teachers of Bacolod South of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints recently had their regular training and meeting with Brother Sonny Deyro in tandem with his wife Sister Cristie B. Deyro at La Carlota Meetinghouse.

The focus of the training is on the Church doctrinal mastery as well expounded by Chad H. Webb, administrator for Seminary and Institute of Religion in the video shown. It is pointed out that spiritual knowledge becomes effective when the scripture mastery introduced and the principles learned, are merged.

It is also stressed there that every question in life has a bearing in the teaching of Jesus Christ. Thus every question has the answer if there's faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Thus, the opportunity to help the students of Seminar and Institute necessitates the power of the faith that gives the strength as what the scripture says "walk not faint" as read by Brother Deyro.

Eternal Perspective Expands Spiritual Knowledge

Brother Sonny Deyro, Church Education System coordinator discussed to the teachers the importance of teaching the doctrinal mastery among their students. He pointed out the system or the process of ASK-DM. ASK stands for acquiring spiritual knowledge and DM stands for mastering the doctrine.

The teachings should focus on the following church doctrines: Godhead, Plan of Salvation, Atonement, Restoration, Priesthood, Prophets, Ordinances, Marriage, and Commandments.

A short discussion on ASK-DM tackled by the teachers as moderated by Brother Deyro.

Practical Doctrinal Questions

Brother Roge Mesobre
Discussion on Marriage
Sister Deyro handled this particular session. She let everyone prepared a question with a corresponding answer from the scripture. The question is within the doctrine of the Church as mentioned above.

In my part, I have this question on marriage and on commandments: "Why should the member get married in the temple since Jesus live in a single life?" or "Since Jesus lived a life of celibacy, should we need to live as such to follow Him?"

Earlier Brother Roge Mesobre, a seminary teacher of Manggapsang Branch reported on the marriage doctrine of the Church. He discussed that marriage is ordained of God. Thus, everyone should follow it and get married in the temple.

On marriage

The scripture, Doctrine and Covenants 22:1 states that "a new and an everlasting covenant even that which was from the beginning." This new everlasting covenant is referred to marriage as ordained of God.

On commandment

It is clearly pointed out in Doctrine and Covenants 132:6, "- shall abide the law or he shall be damned, saith the Lord God."

More in Doctrine and Covenants 132:19, "a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant."

The meeting was concluded in a discussion on missionary work. It was Sister Ma. Luz C. Gatucao, a seminar teacher of La Carlota First Branch, who reported that doctrine on the Plan of Salvation thru missionary work. Those who have been in the mission have shared their actual experiences which are faith-promoting.
